Welwyn Anglo-French Twinning – Privacy and Data Protection Policy

In conformity with the new GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATIONS (GDPR) that came into force earlier this year, it is necessary that we inform you how we handle your personal data.

The Welwyn Anglo-French Twinning Association (“WAFTA”) is an unincorporated [not for profit] association. The current Committee are named on our website: www.welwyntwinning.org and e-mail addresses are also provided if you should wish to make contact; our correspondence address is: WAFTA, 6 Digswell Road, Welwyn Garden City, Herts AL8 7PA.

Upon becoming a member of WAFTA, you provided us with your name, family details including (where relevant) the ages and gender of your children, home address, e-mail address, home telephone number and in some cases a mobile telephone number.

You provided us with this information for the purpose of becoming a member of WAFTA and receiving information and newsletters relating to WAFTA and its activities. We will only use this information for the purpose of communicating with you on matters pertaining to your membership of WAFTA and events that we are running or have recently run. Specifically, the family details are held for the purpose of matching families for Twinning Exchange Visits.

We will not share your personal data with others, on any basis, whether or not they are WAFTA members, unless we are required to do so by law.

We will only store or transfer your personal data within the UK. This means that it will be fully protected under the GDPR.

We will not keep your personal data for any longer than is necessary. If your WAFTA membership comes to an end, we will remove your personal data from our database.

You have various rights under the GDPR in relation to your personal data. Further information about your rights can be obtained from the Information Commissioner’s Office or your local Citizens Advice Bureau.

If you have any questions about WAFTA’s use of your personal data, please contact us using the details set out above. If you have any cause for complaint about our use of your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
